Helping More Families, Reaching More Kids

Cornerstones has been a leading provider of in-home ABA Therapy for children with autism in the greater Chicago area since 2015. While in-home therapy will always be an important part of the services we offer, we are excited to announce the opening of a brand new Clinical Facility in the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn. This state-of-the-art Facility will help us serve our existing clients even better and allow us to offer vital services to families with special needs children outside the autism spectrum.

“For the first time, Cornerstones is offering Clinical ABA Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, and Individual and Family Counseling, all under one roof, allowing us to serve families of children with a variety of special needs in a more comprehensive way than ever before. This multi-disciplinary approach, with different therapies being offered within the same facility, opens up opportunities for collaboration and a continuance of care that is just not possible when children are receiving therapy from several different independent providers.” – Crystal Ciszek, Director of Operations – Oak Lawn

Located directly underneath the Oak Lawn Children’s Museum, the facility is easily accessible from anywhere in the city, offers free parking, and a variety of nearby shops and restaurants. For those preferring public transportation, there is a train station right by the building. But, one of the most exciting things about the location is the easy access to the Children’s Museum. Therapists will utilize the museum for play therapy, social skills training, and “field trips” requiring little more than a journey up the stairs. For families with multiple children, the museum is a perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with their kiddos who are not in therapy.

As Always, Quality Service is Our Highest Priority

As with our in-home ABA Therapists, we’ve hired the best of the best to staff our new Clinical Facility. Every therapist has at least 5 years of experience and are at the top of their field. Each has a proven record of working with a wide spectrum of special needs children, allowing Cornerstones to offer ABA, Occupational and Speech Therapy for any child who needs these therapies, not only children with autism.

“All Cornerstones Clinical therapists are committed to an integrated approach. Every therapist in the facility is available to support the work and offer council and advice to therapists in other disciplines. For example, if an ABA Therapist is working with a child who is also receiving Occupational and Speech therapy, those goals will be a part of their work with that child. Having everyone under one roof means a higher level of support for our therapists and more comprehensive quality of care for our clients.” – Crystal Ciszek, Director of Operations – Oak Lawn

As with in-home ABA therapy, our approach is to not only support the child, but the whole family. That’s why, in addition to offering therapy for children with special needs, the new facility will house licensed clinical social workers offering counseling for individuals and families struggling with the challenges of caring for a special needs child. This is important because no child lives in a bubble. It’s difficult, if not impossible, to effectively treat behavioral challenges without addressing them in the context of the child’s family and social circles. At Cornerstones, the health and well-being of the entire family is important to us, not only that of the child.

More affordable than you might think.

Cornerstones accepts most major insurance policies for clinical and in-home ABA therapy. However, more coverage is generally available for clinical services than in-home behavioral therapy. Clinical services such as Speech and Occupational therapy are categorized under the “medical” portion of most insurance policies. Unlike services such as in-home ABA therapy that are categorized under “behavioral health”, expenses under medical coverage are generally covered at a much higher rate.
